About Us
From the Owner, Adam Terracina
Construction has always been part of my life. My dad worked in the industry, so I guess you could say it's in my blood. In 1989, my family moved from Texas to North Carolina, where my dad, James, began working for Jud Ammons, a Hall of Fame inductee with the Home Builders Association and the City of Raleigh. I grew up on job sites, learning to drive a skid-steer and a tractor before I was old enough to drive a car, and eventually learning to work a manual transmission on an old yellow dump truck.
When my dad started his remodeling company, he taught me how to treat people in business and how to handle concerns honestly. He taught me to take pride in the details and to see a project through the customer's eyes, values like humility, quality, and service that still drive how we operate today.
Mr. Ammons took a special interest in training me also. He pushed me to work hard, to do things the right way, and to set a precedent daily. He was always the most prepared person in the room and the best problem solver, someone who acted with integrity and stayed humble despite everything he'd accomplished. He was steadfast: he held firmly to a position and followed through with determination, especially when things got hard. Watching him work is what gave me the confidence to start and build my own business through the worst recession since the Great Depression. In time, Mr. Ammons became more family than mentor.
I spent my nights, weekends, holidays, and summers growing up in construction. After earning a BS in Business Management with a minor in Accounting from NC State, I went to work for my dad and managed his company for two years. In 2008, I founded AJT Construction, Inc. right as the recession hit. Those early years were tough, but armed with the values passed down from the men who came before me, AJT formed a strong foundation and has grown steadily ever since.
We started by taking on almost any project we could to get through the downturn. By 2013, we'd grown into three divisions: New Construction, Interior Remodeling/Additions, and Exteriors to keep up with demand. In 2016, we made the strategic decision to focus exclusively on Exteriors. That decision has paid off: today AJT is one of the Triangle's most trusted names in siding, roofing, windows and decks, backed by consistent year-over-year growth and some of the highest manufacturer credentials in the industry.

One requirement to maintain ELITE PREFERRED status is to provide our customers a platform to share their construction experience with a third party after working with us. As such, our siding customers have the opportunity to review us with an unbiased third party called GuildQuality. If you do not feel comfortable giving us a 100% by the end of the job, we want to hear about it so we can make things right while we are at your home!
We won the James Hardie Contractor Alliance Program’s President’s Club award for quality in two consecutive years! After winning #1 in the East in 2019 AND 2020, that put us in the TOP 6 IN THE COUNTRY for quality and customer experience 2 years in a row. This award has not been available since the pandemic.
We hold the Graduate Master Builder designation from the National Association of Home Builders. This elite designation sets us apart from many other exteriors contractors.
